Frank McCutcheon Jr.
CFI, CFII
Frank McCutcheon — Instructor & Seaplane Specialist Frank McCutcheon is a highly experienced seaplane captain and instructor whose aviation career spans thousands of hours on floats and a wide range of aircraft across the country. He has taught hundreds of students to fly seaplanes and is known for his calm presence, precise instruction, and deep understanding of water flying operations. As both a Training Captain and CFI/CFII, Frank brings extensive professional experience from flying in diverse environments including the Northeast, Florida, Alaska, Maine, Minnesota, New York City, the Bahamas, and beyond. Although Frank is best known for his expertise in seaplanes—particularly the Cessna Caravan on floats—he is also a skilled tailwheel pilot with significant experience in experimental aircraft. His broad technical background is complemented by his hands-on skill as an accomplished aircraft mechanic, and he plans to expand his contributions to aviation further by pursuing his Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) designation in the near future. East Aviation is proud to collaborate with Frank and grateful for the opportunity to support his instructional work in our land-based aircraft. His professionalism, integrity, and dedication to teaching align strongly with our mission of paying it forward and strengthening aviation communities. Frank and his wife, Sarah Tamar McCutcheon, co-own a respected seaplane school and share a deep commitment to aviation education. Their combined experience and passion continue to inspire students from all backgrounds to pursue their goals in aviation.
